Yorkshire Cat Rescue

United Kingdom - England - Bradford

Yorkshire Cat Rescue combines its Keighley centre with foster homes for cats and kittens, and uses Spud’s Legacy to build regular support for vulnerable animals.

A centre supported by temporary homes

Yorkshire Cat Rescue cares for cats through its centre at Cross Roads, Keighley, and a network of foster homes. Mothers with kittens, orphaned kittens and sometimes adult cats stay with temporary carers. This arrangement places much of the work of raising young kittens in homes before they return to the charity for adoption.

What the charity provides to foster carers

During a foster placement, Yorkshire Cat Rescue covers food and veterinary bills and supplies the equipment needed. The cats remain the charity’s responsibility and must be returned to it. Applicants receive a telephone induction to understand the process, ask questions and consider the commitment involved, including the emotional difficulty of handing animals back.

Kittens and adult cats follow different routes

The centre’s published visitor information distinguishes available adult cats on site from kittens living with foster carers. Adult-cat show rounds take place at the centre, while kittens are reserved online and return when ready for their adoption arrangements. The charity does not offer kitten meet-and-greet visits, so checking the animal’s category before planning a trip matters.

The kitten behind Spud’s Legacy

Spud arrived as a five-day-old kitten and was hand-reared through intensive care, including treatment for a serious eye ulcer. He became the charity’s mascot before his death in April 2025. The regular-giving programme named in his memory aims to help fund improved facilities, additional holding pens, specialist food and both basic and specialist veterinary treatment.

Choose a practical way to help

Read the official fostering application guidance to explore temporary care, or the Spud’s Legacy appeal for regular support. Both contribute to the care needed before cats can join new families. AnimalProtech’s map helps locate the organisation; current visit arrangements and adoption reservations are managed directly by Yorkshire Cat Rescue.
