Street feeding developed into an organised rescue
Elizabeth Homfray began helping dogs after arriving in Ho Chi Minh City in 2007. Feeding strays grew into bringing injured and abandoned dogs home and building an online community to report cases and find adopters. In 2019, she established Laws for Paws Vietnam in Thu Duc, turning that earlier personal work into an organised rescue.
Recovery before matching a dog with a family
The organisation rescues dogs affected by abandonment, abuse and urgent medical needs, including animals from slaughterhouses. Veterinary care and nutrition accompany recovery in its cage-free shelter. Its adoption process matches dogs with homes in Vietnam and abroad, with support for adopters. Health checks and vaccination form part of the preparation described on the official site.
Education has a place beside individual rescues
The published 2025 account records 60 dogs rescued and 51 rehomed, alongside 59 education visits. These figures describe that year’s work rather than a current shelter headcount. School activities and community partnerships extend the mission beyond caring for resident dogs, giving the organisation a way to discuss animal welfare with people before a rescue becomes necessary.
Veterinary outreach reaches Con Dao Island
Con Dao has limited veterinary resources, according to the organisation’s programme account. In partnership with Six Senses Con Dao, Laws for Paws brings vaccination and sterilisation support to dogs and cats on the island. This is a separate outreach strand from shelter adoption, addressing access to basic care and the humane management of stray populations.
Regular support and a planned home for older dogs
The Care Collective funds routine food, preventive care, treatment and rehabilitation through monthly contributions. Separately, the organisation presents UrbanGlamp as a planned accommodation and sanctuary project intended to support older and harder-to-adopt dogs. It is described as a development goal. The official pages provide the appropriate routes for adoption, regular support and updates on that proposal. Official programme information · AnimalProtech map.
