From one rescued galgo to a shared centre
Galgos del Sol grew from founder Tina’s decision to help Spanish galgos, dogs traditionally used for hunting. What began with one rescue in Murcia expanded beyond what a household could manage. After years of caring for dogs at three separate locations, the organisation brought its residents together at a single centre designed around their needs.
Accommodation adapted to different stages of life
The centre separates quarantine, puppy housing and spaces for mothers with newborn litters. Smaller kennels are available for dogs that struggle with larger groups, while indoor-outdoor access forms part of the wider accommodation. This variety allows the organisation to describe care in practical terms rather than treating every rescued dog as having the same needs.
Recovery includes movement and confidence
A sensory walk provides enrichment, and agility areas support training and development. A covered swimming pool is used for rehabilitation and socialisation. These spaces make daily activity part of the recovery environment, alongside shelter and medical attention. Local and international volunteers also help dogs become more comfortable with people while they await adoption.
Veterinary care and education on the same campus
Granny Pants Place houses the veterinary clinic, including a surgical suite and grooming facilities. Elsewhere, an education building supports programmes for school-age visitors. Having both on the campus reflects two parts of the mission: responding to the needs of dogs already rescued and helping people understand their care and treatment.
Adoption depends on established support networks
Galgos del Sol places dogs only in destinations where it has arrangements for supervision, transport and post-adoption support. Its official about page lists those locations and the appropriate contacts. Prospective adopters should use that current list rather than assume worldwide placement. Readers interested in helping on site can also consult the separate volunteer programme information. Official programme information · AnimalProtech map.
