Treatment followed by a return home
Friendicoes SECA treats sick and injured animals through its hospital-shelters in Delhi and Gurugram. Rescue cases include road injuries, severe wounds and animals in a state of collapse. For street animals, treatment can be followed by a return to the neighbourhood where they were found once healing is complete, connecting hospital care with their familiar surroundings.
Rescue capacity has practical limits
The rescue team works within traffic, time and demand constraints. It may ask the person reporting an animal to arrange transport to a clinic rather than wait for an ambulance. The official rescue page states that the night clinic and night ambulance have been suspended indefinitely for financial reasons. Contact the team for current assistance rather than assuming overnight dispatch is available.
Sterilisation is part of the wider response
Friendicoes dates its street-animal sterilisation work to 1993. Sterilisation and vaccination programmes operate with municipal bodies, animal husbandry departments and supporting companies or organisations. The team also describes camps in villages and towns across northern India following requests from local authorities or animal advocates, taking preventive care beyond the immediate surroundings of its rescue hospitals.
A separate effort for neighbourhood cats
A Delhi programme for street cats began in 2019 with local volunteers and cat carers. It combines trapping, sterilisation, vaccination and return, making community participation part of the work. This differs from finding homes for cats suitable for adoption: the organisation’s activities include both care for animals living outdoors and the preparation of companion animals for family life.
Adoption includes thinking about everyday safety
Friendicoes encourages indoor homes for pet cats, with play, toys and secure places to watch their surroundings. Its advice draws on injuries from traffic and other animals, and the difficulty of finding a lost cat. Fostering can help someone contribute before a permanent commitment. Adoption, fostering, volunteering and rescue enquiries have different contacts, so choose the channel that matches the help needed. Official programme information · AnimalProtech map.
