AnimalProtech is a nonprofit project that began in 2021 and brings together collaborators worldwide. On animalprotech.org, our map and directory bring together public information about independent animal rescuers, shelters, NGOs and other initiatives, helping people discover their work and find ways to contact them.
You might want to donate pet food, offer transport or volunteer, but not know who needs help nearby. Someone in the same area may be looking for exactly that support. The map gives you a place to begin your search and learn about the people already working for animals.
Find animal rescuers and shelters in your area
Explore the map or search for a city or an initiative by name. You can also browse the directory by country, region and city to see the initiatives already listed.
- Choose a location. Start with your city or another area where you would like to support animal-protection work.
- Read the profiles. Learn about each initiative, check its location and find the public contact channels available.
- Contact the people responsible. Ask about their activities, current needs and the best way to get involved.
If a search returns no results, try a nearby city or a wider area. You can also browse the directory by location.
Different ways of working for animals
Animal protection takes many forms. Some people care for animals using their own resources. Others work through volunteer groups, adoption organizations, NGOs or shelters that provide ongoing care.
Each profile brings together the public information available about an initiative. This may include a description of its work, its area of activity and links for getting in touch. These details help you understand whom you have found before starting a conversation.
Every initiative has its own resources and limits. Appearing on the map does not mean that it can take in an animal, carry out a rescue or welcome visitors at a public address. Speak to the people responsible to find out what they can offer.
How to support animal-protection work
A conversation is often the most useful first step. Ask what the initiative needs now, then explain what you can offer within your time and resources.
- Food and supplies: agree on the products needed, the quantities and how to deliver them before making a trip.
- Time and skills: ask about volunteering, transport, photography, communication or other tasks where your help could be useful.
- Sharing information: pass on current posts with the correct contact details and instructions from the people responsible.
- Supporting a fundraiser: understand its purpose, confirm the official channels and follow the updates published by the initiative.
If you are interested in adoption, contact the organization directly to learn about available animals and the adoption process. Requirements, availability and decisions are handled by the people responsible for each animal.
Information to help you make contact
AnimalProtech organizes public information to make initiatives easier to discover. A directory listing is not a certification, an individual endorsement or a guarantee that every detail is still current.
Before donating, sending documents or arranging a visit, check that the contact channel belongs to the person or organization you are looking for. Compare the name, city, public history and contact details published by the initiative itself.
AnimalProtech does not carry out rescues, collect donations for listed organizations or arrange adoptions. Our role is to help people find information and reach those responsible for the work.
Help keep the directory useful and current
Do you know a rescue, shelter or initiative that is missing from the map? Use the option to add an organization to suggest a listing. A name, city, description of its work and public links help us identify it.
If an existing profile contains outdated information, use the contribution form on that page to suggest a correction. Explain what changed and, where possible, include a public source that lets us check the information.
An initiative may change its name, stop an activity or move to a different social media account. Community contributions help the directory keep up with these changes. Share public information only, without personal documents or other people’s private addresses.
A directory that is still growing
An empty area on the map does not mean that nobody is working for animals there. We may simply not have enough information to publish a profile yet.
Coverage varies between regions. The figures on our data page describe initiatives listed in the directory, rather than all animal-protection activity in a city or country.
We aim to grow this resource with information people can understand, consult and help correct. Read about AnimalProtech to learn more about the project and its purpose.
AnimalProtech Bio: share your own work
We also offer a tool for people and organizations that want to present their own work for animals. AnimalProtech Bio lets you bring animals for adoption, fundraising campaigns, contact details and other content together on one page.
Share the link in your social media bio, send it in messages or use a QR code. The person managing the page organizes and updates its content as the project’s needs change.
The map helps people discover initiatives by location. Bio helps each person or organization bring together the information they want to share. Creating a Bio page does not automatically add it to the map’s directory.

Common questions
What is the AnimalProtech project’s website?
Our map, directory and blog are on animalprotech.org. Our page-building tool, AnimalProtech Bio, is on animalprotech.bio. Both websites are part of our technology project for animal protection.
Do I need an account to explore the map?
The map and public profiles are available without signing in. Some contribution options may ask you to identify yourself when submitting information.
Can I take an animal to a place shown on the map?
Contact the people responsible first. A profile may represent an independent rescuer or an initiative without an animal-care facility. A map location does not confirm a public visiting address or the ability to accept animals.
How do I contact the AnimalProtech team?
Use our contact page for questions about the platform. To speak to a listed person or organization, use the channels on their profile.
Where can I read more about animals?
The AnimalProtech blog covers animal protection, care and animal curiosities, with references for further reading.
